Customer Update April 16, 2007

Web Services delivers
in-application billing and subscription information

Shortly, Bango will introduce the first in a new range of Web Service APIs. This will deliver two important features:

  1. An On-Demand Payment Service that puts you in total charge of your mobile payments, even from within a client side Java/Symbian application.
  2. A Subscription Information Service that lets you check the status of customer’s subscriptions.

Check status of a customer’s subscription

Bango has spent the last few months listening to your feedback – many of you love our simple Safe Subscription service but wanted the ability to programmatically check the status of a customer’s subscription.   You want to check whether a user’s subscription is paid up before letting them access your valuable content or run an application.

Our new Web Services API let’s you easily retrieve a wide range of information – from the complete list of active subscribers to the current status of a specific user’s subscription.

Take full control of your payments

Our new Web Services API also gives you full server-to-server control over payments, allowing you to programmatically collect money from customer's on-demand.

This is perfect for in-application billing from a Java or Symbian applications running on the handset or from a mobile web application running on your server. For example, on-demand payment lets your game collect money before starting the new level or your chat application charge for a premium level of service.

This new on-demand payment service also allows you to take total control over regular subscription payments – you can decide when to initiate the next payment and the amount to charge.

Availability

These new capabilities will be available in the Bango Target and Bango Advantage packages. They are delivered as part of a new Web Services API, documentation for which will be made available in the Support centre on Bango.com shortly. To apply for a pre-release version of this documentation, contact Customer Services.

Kind regards
