We're pleased to announce that initial testing has been completed on our new data centre. We thought you'd like to know about this new facility because it means we continue to provide the cutting edge technology that enables you to grow your business.
We have expanded our infrastructure to:
- offer easier and faster access to the data we provide
- accommodate growth in traffic
- add extra resilience and flexibility
- keep your transaction and traffic data safe and secure
- run more services globally and faster
Bango North
We currently operate three cross-replicated clusters in our two independently located and hosted data centres. We call these existing centres Bango South and Bango East due to their geographical locations. Our new data centre, Bango North, is hosted with a Global Tier 1 hosting and service provider. The new location gives us even better facilities and enables us to provide better connectivity than our two existing locations. It also has fewer constraints on electrical power, to enable more flexibility as we expand.
The technical bit...
We are taking the opportunity to scale up and scale out our infrastructure at the same time. For the tech-heads among you, our Zeus ZXTM clustered load balancers provide redundancy and availability as well as accelerating downloads. They allow us to add new servers into each cluster to expand capacity. We are adding new Sun AMD x64 servers to run the databases, with the fastest processors and loads of RAM. With dual or quad core processors and scope to add more as required we expect to be able to comfortably run more services and provide easier and faster access to the increasing amount of data we provide.
Finally the storage backend uses NetApp clustered filers, which again give excellent performance and ensures future expansion is easy whilst keeping all of your payment and traffic data safe and secure.
We will maintain our existing South and East data centres after Bango North goes live, to ensure continuity and resilience, but most of our capacity investment will be at the new Bango North. Having our second and third systems allows us to keep your sites running smoothly, and with resilience whenever we need to carry out large scale maintenance on the "live" system.
Bango North will come online before the end of the year, but you will see no interruption to your service as we do so.
