2008: A leap year
As CEO of Bango I am fortunate to get a "helicopter view" of what's going on across many parts of the mobile web. From the Bango viewpoint 2008 promises to be a real "Leap Year" for the mobile web.
2007 was a year of groundwork. Search started to work on mobile. Google, Yahoo, Jumptap and others began to make mobile search deliver fairly relevant mobile sites, and took their first steps into paid for placement.
Mobile operators started to talk about "opening up" and even started to dismantle their portals. They lowered data rates and started to market web access as a benefit. Announcements from Apple, Google and Facebook started to legitimize the use of the web from a mobile.
At Bango we focused during 2007 on getting more users to your content. We introduced the Bango Button and enabled viral spread with WAP.com For premium content we integrated many more billers and added new subscription options for payment. We further streamlined credit card payment flow, and partnered with Sprint in the USA to enable off-deck WAP billing - alongside AT&T.
In 2008 Bango will be focussed on giving you more reach yet with simpler and easier interaction.
Many new billers, payment partners and countries will come on line to increase your ability to collect payment - all through your existing connection with Bango.
The Bango Button and other Bango technologies will bridge the PC/Mobile divide to get you more usage without the complexity and cost of SMS.
Bango will provide more information to you by opening up the Bango platform through our new Bango Analytics, Bango Boosted API and Bango Media services.
Through one unique low-cost platform Bango enables you to manage your mobile sites, control your marketing investments, and reach a global audience.
We will also be making it as easy as possible to share information with the industry by expanding the forums and providing as much self help information as we can through the web.
